Winemaker's Comments

2013 vintage was a warmer than average in our region with very few large falls of rain occurring in the spring and summer. We experienced bud burst on the 16th of September which was followed by strong cane growth for the six weeks up to flowering. Conditions for flowering were ideal and we experienced an excellent fruit set. Veraison occurred in early January. The ripening period was extended due to climatic conditions which caused a better flavour ripeness to sugar accumulation. Harvest occurred on February 12th.

Vinification

The grapes were crushed and de-stemmed prior to being transferred to a small Membrane press, no preservatives were added at this stage. The must was pressed and settled in Stainless tank and was inoculated with selected neutral yeast to allow vineyard expression. Due to the fruit brightness of the wine the decision was made to avoid exposing the wine to oak. The wine was transferred/racked off gross lees after 4 months, stabilised, filtered and bottled in November 2013.

Palate

The palate of the wine, is first and foremost generous in flavour, lively peach characters follow through finishing with a fresh appeal. The wine is well structured (acid balance) and is both appealing to the Organic conscious and wine connoisseur.
